Overview:
We are seeking a Lead, Web Developer to join our team and spearhead new development initiatives alongside a talented team of Media professionals to deliver well-designed, high-quality websites. You must have a strong background in WordPress development and can demonstrate progression in technical experience and solving challenging problems. You will be collaborating with supporting the Editorial, Creative Design, Marketing, Ad Sales and Operations teams within the Media organization.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Lead a team of developers, ensuring the implementation of engineering best practices and industry standards.
Build modern, interactive, responsive websites using Wordpress, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP.
Develop, implement, and style responsive templates and components with configurability and reusability in mind.
Produce efficient, well-designed, and testable code that follows best development practices, design patterns, and standards through solid design decisions, processes, and tool.
Research, learn, and build experience in full-fledged mobile and web development frameworks for UI development.
Implement website optimization techniques (speed, cache, SEO) and mobile device optimization. Optimize page speed, performance, and user experience through effective caching strategies and web optimizations.
Create and maintain documentation for developed solutions, including code documentation, technical specifications, and user guides.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in website development, with 2 years of experience leading a team of developers.
Advanced proficiency in Wordpress administration and development, including custom theme and plugins.
Experience in building a Wordpress site from scratch, and/or migration from other CMS.
Advanced proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, TypeScript, use of bunders (ie: webpack), and MySQL.
Familiarity with Docker.
Familiarity with automated testing, testing frameworks, continuous integration, build automation, deployment tooling, modern front-end build pipelines and tools, RESTful APIs, web services integration, and version control tools (such as Git and GitHub).
Familiarity with web design principles, user experience (UX) best practices, website analytics, and search engine optimization (SEO) techniques.
Experience deploying and testing JavaScript tags for analytics and performance metrics.
Proficiency in building ReactJS applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with Agile delivery practices.
You must be able to work both independently and collaboratively within in a cross-functional team environment.
